Reviews for Grantley Arms - 17th Century Country Inn

Reviewer: John Thorogood (Birmingham) 17 August 2008
A delightfully positioned pub with beautiful views and outdoor terrace festooned with magnificent hanging baskets. Inside the pub was spotlessly clean with not a speck of dust anywhere. The fire brasses were polished and the staff immaculately turned out. The menu had an excellent choice of food without being too pretentious. For starters my beef and onion soup was homemade, delicious and piping hot. The wife’s’ mushroom risotto was, as she put it, the best risotto she has ever had. For mains we both chose the three choice lamb dish which was divine served with fresh potatoes, vegetables and an onion tart. We would have loved to have sampled the sweets but were too full. A good selection of wines and hand pulled ales complements the evening. Definitely not just pub grub, nor pub grub prices but well worth the trip. The locals were very friendly and staff helpful and polite.

have eaten here a number of times. Food and service always excellent. Val is a perfect host. Choice is very good. Try the early bird for great value!
